Make VOIP more reliable

Posted on August 22nd, 2007 by

VoIP, the latest technology of the generation for making phone calls uses internet and with it not only brings benefits but also dangers of internet security infringing. The biggest challenge while choosing a VoIP service is to get security and performance.

The voip companies in the market are reliable as they provide dial tones and make calls to correct number and maintain clear communication. Customers do not settle for anything less than this service and complain the moment they notice a disturbance in phone line.

The problem with VoIP is that they are not completely trustworthy. Sometimes they work perfectly and at other times dial tone is missing and VoIP box has to be reboot for making or receiving calls. In such a case many times customer doesn’t get to know about problem and important calls get missed or unattended. VoIP using customers face problems as reverberations during communication or caller ID not working properly.

The problems of poor sound, dropped calls and loss of services are some of the reasons for VoIP users not canceling their PSTN service. VoIP is just too crumbling for daily usage. VoIP manufacturers need to upgrade the equipments for enhanced results. The latest upgraded VoIP service has fewer problems and better sound quality.

PSTN line utilizes circuit switching technology which means that a circuit remains open while the call is being made between particular caller and receiver and no one else can use it during that time. While VoIP service works on packet switched network with no constant connection.  In VoIP, voice signals are digitized and broken it small packets which are sent to recipient through a series of routers. Different packets travel by different routes and reassemble at the destination where they are turned back into voice. Packets prefer traveling through least congested routes at the time for cost effectiveness and in this process some packets may get lost or misrouted. This problem degrades the quality of call and sometimes call doesn’t even reach the other end.

The biggest advantage of PSTN is that they don’t need electricity to work. Even in case of power cut at home or office a call can be made and received. The VoIP line depends on appliances working on power and on internet connection. If any problem occurs in power or internet connection, line goes down. Phone calls are even interrupted by normal temporary glitches in broadband internet connection and viruses, hack attacks and worms also create problem for IP based phone.

VoIP running on software as Skype work better when used on high powered PC with fast processor and more RAM.

VoIP service can be made reliable by using power backup so that power failure may not interrupt phone lines and using dedicated internet connection for VoIP which will protect it from viruses. Using two broadband connections from different providers will add bandwidth and keep phone lines working even if one connection disconnects. If multiple voice phone lines are required then each line should be devoted to different provider to get efficient results.

The Power Of VoIP

Posted on July 16th, 2007 by

VOIP means Voice Over Internet Protocol. As its name indicates, in this we transfer the voice over internet with the help of TCP/IP protocol. TCP/IP stands for Tranmission control protocol/ Internet Protocol. It is a connectionless protocol. TCP/IP network have some IP packets with a header part and an information part. The header is for communication control & information part is used for transporting data. In VOIP voice is digitized into data packets, transferred through the network and when the packets arrive at destination, they converted back to voice.

When you want to call someone using VOIP, you have to use a phone with an adapter. Adapter is a device which is used to establish connection b/w your phone and network. Adapter is similar to a telephone set which we have to use in order to make a call from PSTN.VOIP is cheaper than traditional PSTNs. No matter how long you make a call.

VOIP is provided by using the internet, many of VOIP features are similar with web-based applications, allow the user to modify these features over the internet.

Each VOIP has its unique phone number. It is the choice of subscribers that which phone number and code number they want to choose. If most of your friends live in same area than you can also adopt the same code as your friends have. Than your friends can call you at local rates. If you adopt the code of some other area  then the people of that area which have the same code as you have can make local calls on your number.

With the help of VOIP employers enjoy the discounts on long distance rates. Businesses can use integrated services. Integrated services means audio, video, e-mail, and many more applications , you can access at a time. The whole process is digital.

For mobile employees VOIP is a bless. Because with the help of VOIP they don’t have to pay roaming fees from cellular services. They can also keep their phone with them. VOIP is very popular now-a-days because it is flexible , remote user capability, easy of use, its function is quite simple, it is compatible means it can work with different sets. VOIP takes the power of telecommunications and give a practical benefit to the employer, employee and customer.
